thankful

ruby is doing better.
we got a 2nd opinion,
which is giving her a 2nd chance.
which she so very much deserves!
she has a very
naughty pancreas, kidney and
some of her intestines are
just not playing nice...
but...
i am thankful for "rescue jennifer" and the new vet.
and the help she is receiving.
and that she is doing better.

and then this one...
other than when he is a total klutz,
that results in a total mess...
i am thankful for him, too.
and i think he is thankful for the poochy, too.
above is an older photo
(because someone else has the camera this weekend),
but when i got home earlier with ruby,
a certain furball made his way to her
and gave a few kitty-kisses to her.
and then they followed each other around for awhile.
and then because puddy mcfluffkins IS a cat,
he got bored and wondered off.
i love our furry ones!

so i am not thankful for things.
it is not "what" i am thankful for.
it is who.

 ahhh, big ole sigh!

merry christmas...

no, the flu (or what-the-heck-ever crud/plague/illness that i currently am enduring) has not rendered me completely loco.  yet.

but....i found this fabu offer for bloggers:  free christmas cards!  (i heard you yell "whoot-whoot"!)

i have done numerous photo books using shutterfly...love 'em!  quick, easy way to showcase our lil honeys & my hubs (heck, i've included a photo or 2 of myself - and they printed them - must not have completely broken their photog machinery, huh?!).  check 'em out over HERE!  you want to see what i have done with shutterfly?  well...........
*these are 4 of the books i have done...i did one from last winter (2009),
one with pics from the whole year,
one of just wren,
and the small one is from our vacation this summer (2010)*
i've done "other" holidays (like valentine's day, halloween...with, of course, pictures of the cuties)...i have even gotten our christmas photo cards from shutterfly the last few years...quick and easy ordering...arrived looking stellar...the hardest part?  selecting the actual card!  they have a ton to choose amongst. i love this one... and this one... oooh, ooooh, this one is adorable... and i will be laboring over that decision when i decide i can function vertically for more than 5 minutes without feeling nauseous, light-headed, achy, and having my throat feel as though i have become a fire-breathing dragon.

and yes, i did get my flu shot.

but, no, i forgot to ask for the "momma-shot" - y'know the one that keeps us mommas from getting sick...or at least so sick that we cannot take our kindergartner to school and join her at walking club (like i have for the past 48 school days!)...or make lunch for the 4-yr-old, who was able to find crackers, chickee-poos and grapes all by herself (which she LOVED - the snacky foods AND being such a big girl - and she spent plenty of time making sure i was "tucked in" on the couch)...or leave the couch to do anything besides use the bathroom, take the dog out...or, sick enough to have to ask hubs to leave work early to pick up the kid in school...and then return movies/pick up laptop/take daughter to dance class...heck, i don't even think i can watch my thursday night line up...sad, sad situation o'er here...

okay...my 5 minutes is up and i feel rather punk now ("punk" being a word my mom used when anyone was sick and pale...does any else even use that word??)...

it's on! (UPDATED)

UPDATE:
errr, it's over.
ka-poot.
ne'er to play each other again.
oh, and the hubs & i's marriage, you ask?
ummm, yeeeaaah...
it's fine b/c it does not revolve around, or evolve around,
f-o-o-t-b-a-l-l.
despite the dingdongs who asked.
more than once on saturday.
yep, d-i-n-g-d-o-n-g-s.
is there any smart person who really thinks that a marriage would lie in the delicate balance of whether a particular college football team wins?  or loses?  or makes it to a title game?
if so, please comment.
seriously.
give me some rationale about it.
(insert a big ole happy face now...that is for the hubs)

in sickness & in health...

although when my hubs and i spoke these words to one another over 7 years ago, they have been front and center lately.  but probably not in the sense that either of us would have thought.

he is fine.
i am fine.
the girls are both fine.
the furball cat is fine.
but the lil pooch...not so much.

she had lost a lot of weight in the past few weeks.  almost 3 lbs.  and that is A LOT when you are just shy of 16 lbs on a regular basis!  poor lil thing!  so...to vet we went.  i'd changed up her food, which did not go over well with her tummy.  so...the vet we went.  and the first day i spent a couple hours there and he ruled out numerous things, but could not narrow it down.  he gave me a list of 3 possibilities and his suggestions on how to proceed.  i made a couple of decisions and brought her home.  nea and i took her back the next day.  and she spent the entire day at the vet.  all.  stinking.  day.  she was so excited to see me and the girls late that afternoon, though!  but unfortunately that day of tests found the vet with no answers.  he was able to rule out all 3 of his initial possibilities, but has no more concrete info than when we first arrived.  but he gave her some different food to add to her crunchy food and she loves it.  loves it so much that when puddy, the furball cat, comes on over to sniff and try to eat it, ruby lets out a very possessive "BARK"!  and this is a dog that rarely barks.  in the 10 months we have had her, i think we have maybe heard her bark 6 times.  seriously.

so...we are going to stick with the food change and see how she does over the next few days.  her ears are perky again.  her eyes do not look so sad.  she is not having "accidents" in her kennel.  she is much, much better!  and she deserves to be much, much better!  she is a very sweet, lovable and kind pup...the girls adore her.  hubs adores her.  and me?  well, i had to have a friend watch my girls for a couple hours when i initially took her to the vet because i did not want the girls to see me a bawling wreck.  because i was.  i so love that little boston terrier it probably is not even sane.  but i don't care!  she is part of our little family and we will take care of her in sickness and in health!
